Forest fires

Forest is a shared asset. We develop innovative tools to protect them from fire and manage them in a sustainable way for future generations.
Fire is one of the principal threats to the conservation of forest stands. Forest fire impact is increasing as a result of changes in land-use and the more frequently occurring extreme weather conditions. We explore new methods and technologies to improve the characterization of forest fuels, fire risk and the recovery of fire-damaged areas. To do so we invest in developing innovative tools that help in the planning of fire prevention and fire-fighting interventions as well as the restoration of burned areas.
